Become a Confident Early Childcare Assistant

The NACC Early Childcare Assistant 2021 program is designed to equip childcare workers with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for employment as Early Childhood Assistants in day care or early learning centers. It gives students course content to be well prepared to experience the responsibilities of an ECA in two separate practicum placements where they must perform in a supervised professional setting. The NACC Early Childcare Assistant 2021 program provides the foundational skills necessary to move into an Early Childhood Education Program.

Prepare to provide support, encouragement, and self-esteem to children as they develop. In addition, through a practicum placement, you’ll benefit from hands-on experience in a childcare facility. There, you’ll have the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts of child development that you’ll learn throughout the Early Childcare Assistant Diploma program.

The NACC Early Childcare Assistant 2021 program includes entry to advanced level training:

  • Introduction to Sociology

  • NACC Final Exam

Each student of the program will participate in two separate practicum placements, where they must perform in a supervised professional setting.

 Program Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate some of the following outcomes:

  • Create learning contexts to enable, build and maintain caring, responsive relationships in partnerships with children, families and communities that value and respect social, cultural, and linguistic diversity including Indigenous* peoples’ worldviews and Francophone identity
  • Co-create, facilitate, and reflect upon inquiry and play-based early years and childcare programs and pedagogical approaches to support children’s learning, holistic development and well-being following children’s capabilities, interests, ideas, and experiences
  • Co-design and maintain inclusive early learning environments to value and support equitable, accessible, and meaningful learning opportunities for all children, their families and communities in a range of early years and childcare settings
  • Collaborate with children, families, colleagues, agencies, and community partners to create, maintain, evaluate, and promote safe and healthy early learning environments to support independence, reasonable risk-taking and healthy development, and well-being
  • Use observation strategies to identify children’s strengths and challenges and to ascertain when children and families might benefit from additional support or community resources 

Career Opportunities

Early childhood educators plan, organize and implement programs for children between the ages of infancy and 12 years. Early childhood educator assistants provide care for infants and preschool to school-age children under the guidance of early childhood educators. Early childhood educators and assistants lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth and ensure their security and well-being.

Early Childcare Assistants are employed in the following settings:

  • Daycare Centers
  • Kindergartens
  • Agencies for exceptional children,
  • And other settings where early childhood education services are provided

Funding Your Education

CCBST is an excellent option for individuals who want to get ahead without a major financial burden. At CCBST, tuition is more affordable than larger schools while maintaining the same quality of education.

You may also be eligible to receive Government Funding as all CCBST programs are full time.

Lastly, you may qualify for Second Career Eligibility Ontario. The Second Career program provides support to laid-off employees who will benefit from retraining to find work. Please contact a CCBST admissions representative to see if you meet the criteria.
